Gdrive - bumps in the road

So hit the first speedbump already... our hardware and software at work is behind the times, so lots of features are unsupported and are likely to not work properly and of course, due to restrictions, I can't install Google drive. I'll have to try that one from home...

Thing 3 - The Wiki-verse and more...

So, luckily, I've used wiki's before. Via uni and via the East Midlands Library Trainers Forum - now merged with the West Midlands group.
I'm familiar with Meet-o-Matic - we use that here for meeting scheduling, but I've not used Google Drive to share documents etc., so I guess I'll have to dip my toe in that water now...
Google Docs/Drive sounds interesting - I've not used any cloud computing and it sounds very helpful for people who are collaborating, but on different sites. I support clinical teams who work across multiple sites, so I can see how this sort of thing could be really beneficial for them, as well as for library staff covering split sites. Of course, as long as security is maintained - it could be really handy.

Catching up... well trying to!

Ok, so it's been ages since I lasted posted - mainly because it's been manic and I'm running (very) behind on my "things". 12 things is becoming "missed a thing again" for me...
Still, having had a few weeks of it being impossible, here I am officially trying to catch up with everyone else on 12things.
I'm already JournalTOC'd up and RSS feed sorted and have lots of alerts - so I'm good there. I must admit, I find RSS feeds are variable - some are great, but others less so. We've been experimenting at times at work with them, but have lots of network restrictions and IT restrictions enforced on us, so keep having debates about how we can do things without offending IT... need to keep them onside... I do like netvibes as a site though.
So I can't twitter via the work network, but I've read all the info and many of my friends are completely addicted. I'm staying well out of the twittersphere for now... I get very anoyed by the inconsequential nature of a lot of tweets and I think I'd probably be one of those folk who get quickly addicted and then start tweeting about their toast! Hypocrite potentiality methinks...
Anyway, better see if I can move on... catching up with my "things" is the plan!
